Guilt
Dig me a grave
And fill it with me
Let the sand whisper in
Covering up my shame
Dirt like water
Trickling in
Washing me of any blame
While in the streets
Like gutter dogs
With gnashing teeth
And bloody claws
They pick at our flesh
And bay at our flaws.
They fight to feed on the carrion
Of our putrefying souls.
But we, who are not blameless
Like the beasts, we join in this rite,
And gorge on the shortfalls of kinsmen
And welcome the parting of light.
Dig me my grave
And fill it with me
Let me close my eyes
And stop my thoughts run
The earth a cold blanket
I bid farewell to the sun.
